In addition to medical researchers, epidemiologists, and virologists are shifting focus in response to COVID-19, conservation biologists are also investigating how this global issue impacts biodiversity and creates opportunity for change in a post-pandemic era. Dr. Steven Cooke comments, “I think it’s a good time for reflection, and as we think of economic investment in the post-COVID transition, trying to think about what that looks like” (Cooke, Popular Science 2020).
